See you next year!
The MLK Committee annually provides an opportunity for Jackson County middle school students to participate in a series of activities designed to motivate, empower and support them to make positive changes in their community. The Middle School Challenge Project helps the students “be the change” they wish to see. We provide the one-day Challenge Day workshop for students, and the goal of that training is to work toward making schools places where every student feel safe, loved and celebrated. Participating students report increased student self-esteem, increased student kindness, reduced bullying, improved school climate, and inspiration to perform community service.
Overall Long Term Goal - Create a county wide program for each 7th grade student by working with school districts to make this part of the anti-bullying resources. C2C support, HIO support The Committee also works with Chamber staff to honor Dr. King and further his dream at a community breakfast.
